Melbourne wedding photography – Jodi & Aaron

What a fun, beautiful couple, words can’t describe how in love they are, everytime we met them it was palpable, the energy of two very compatible people carried their wedding day with an effortless grace, it was beautiful.

Jodi and Aaron both love the sea, they met on a scuba diving course 4 1/2 years ago, they both surf and live near the ocean . In terms of joint interests I don’t think I’ve met a couple who enjoy doing so much together

Now can you guess where Aaron proposed to Jodi?…. No, it wasn’t in the Simpson desert or on the Nullabor plain it was…..Suprise, suprise…you guessed it, in the ocean,  on a scuba diving trip on Hamilton Island in fact. Jodi thought Aaron had been acting a bit strange that day so when Aaron tugged her flipper and Jodi turned round to see Aaron holding a ring and on one knee as much as someone can at 16 metres under water giving the thumbs up or thumbs down signal it all became apparent.

The wedding was a beautiful bright sunny day just like Jodi and Aaron, the service was held at Dalywaters Rose Farm in Mornington a perfect place

then the reception at Merricks General Store, a beautiful warm venue and just up the road from one of their favorite surf beaches.

It was a beautiful wedding, and thanks so much for having me capture it for you.

melbourne wedding photographer Qemal & Sarah – Part 1

Wow wow wow!!! Qemal and Sarah are such an awesome couple and their wedding was nothing short of incredible. Seeing 2 people who are so in love and right for each other never ceases to take my breath away, its intoxicating and makes what I do so enjoyable.

Sarah is also the 4th bride from USA/Canada I’ve photographed this year who’s married an Australian!! What is it with Australian men ? But they are the only ones who still live in the States but chose to exchange their vows in Shepparton where Qemal’s family hails from.

With an extended coverage and so many great images to be had at this wedding I’ve broken the blog into 2 parts, the next installment to follow very soon.

Melbourne wedding photographer helps Haiti

Hello Lovelies,

Like all of you I was shocked and saddened by the devastation in Haiti. There was one image on the news website of a boy about 3 or 4 crying being carried away by a rescuer, I couldn’t but help think he was probably now an orphan. Could you think of anything worse to happen a child of that age? So to do my bit I’m donating 10% of the fees for the next wedding booked direct to Red Cross. The donation will be made under the name of the couple booking so get on board, get married, get great photography and help the devastation in Haiti.

Jill and Nick’s engagement shoot

Hello lovelies,

Some images from Jill and Nick’s beautiful engagement shoot. We had a ball shooting around The Convent and Collingwood Childrens Farm.

Nick met Jill, a native American while on holiday in New York where Jill was living in April 2008. It was love! Following that a long distance relationship

ensued until Nick in Janurary this year, down on one knee, wearing snow shoes in the Vermont winter proposed to Jill.

A few months later Jill moved to Melbourne to be with Nick and are now planning the first of their 2 weddings which will be in Melbourne, can’t wait.

Melbourne Greek wedding

Ceremony: Greek Orthodox Church, Carlton North  (03) 9380 1869

Reception: Quat Quatta

Videography: C2 video

The final chapter in Nadi and Spiro’s incredible wedding adventures took place in Melbourne with their Greek Orthodox wedding in Carlton and reception at Quat Quatta in Ripponlea.

It had been a long month for the bride and groom Nadi and Spiro, 2 weeks of non stop family, parties and 2 weddings in Mauritius that then landed them back in Melbourne less than a week before their Melbourne Greek celebration. It was a beautiful passionate wedding as all their Mauritian ceremonies had been but As Nadi said with a sigh at the end of the night that concluded nearly a month of family and marriage commitments “I’m now just looking forward to getting on with married life”.

All the best guys, its been such a privilidge to share and document this part of your journey. I’m sure your new puppy and any kids to follow will blessed with a loving , caring family life.

Beach destination wedding Mauritius

Hello Lovelies,

The final chapter in our Mauritian adventure was dusk shoot on the beach at Flic En Flac on the beach in front of the Hilton.

Despite spending a week with Nadi and Spiro this was the only shoot we did unemcumbered by their frantic schedule of wedding and family commitments.

The weather for most of the week had been dull and overcasts but like the parting of the Red Sea the clouds that had graced the Mauritian skies for the majority of our week there cleared for some beautiful late afternoon  light and a stunning sunset. We had a lot of fun and when the sun had fully set I packed my cameras, cleared the sand from my shoes then jumped in a cab straight to the airport just in time for my flight back to Australia.

What a week!

Persian wedding Mauritius

Hello Lovelies,

The final ceremony in Nadi and Spiro’s Mauritian wedding was the Persian wedding held at the Hilton in Flic En Flac on the picturesque west coast of the island.

The evening started at dusk with a cocktail party on the beach then moved inside for the ceremony. The wedding itself was a beautifully detailed ceremony punctuated with great passion, some incredibly moving speeches and much dancing and joy.

The ceremonial area where Nadi and Spiro sat most of the night looking like royalty was dressed with beautiful baubles and decorations bought from Iran by family members especially for the wedding. It was stunning and profound and a fitting end to a long, passionate week

Hindu wedding Mauritius

Hello Lovelies

In the 2nd blog from Spiro and Nadi’s incredibly beautiful wedding ceremonies in Mauritius were looking at the Hindu wedding.

The day before Nadi getting her hands and feet decorated with beautifully detailed henna tattoos. The painstakingly delicate application of the henna paste takes well over an hour with another 2 hours for it to dry, during this time Nadi couldn’t move

The following day is the actual wedding. Its started in the morning with a small ceremony at the family home  to as Prahba described to ‘cleanse them for the their conjugal life’. Here the Priest and close family members bless and anoint the bride and groom with Tumeric paste dabbed on their outfits with dried grass brush. They’re not supposed to see each other and are blessed separately and when bought together sit with their backs to each so as to not see each other.

Late that afternoon we had a photo session at the house. Formal Bollywood style portraits of the Bride and Groom, we all had a lot of fun and it added to the pomp and sense of occasion.

That evening it was the wedding. Its a long service, about 1.5 hours where  the bride and groom for the most part sit in 2 chairs on a low stage surrounded by various offerings and objects whilst the priest and family members preform many rituals and blessings. It was then a vegetarian feast followed by, you guessed it….more dancing….yeahhh.

Destination wedding Mauritius – The parties

Its starting to feel an eternity ago but I spent the first week of August in Mautitius for the wedding of Nadi and Spiro and what a week it was.

Nadi is Mauritian, her father, Arvind is Indian/hindu  and mother, Havva of Iraian/muslim, husband Spiro is…you guessed it… good Australian/Greek boy, what a mix!

Even by Mauritian standards this wedding was big, 2 big parties before the first official ceremony being the Hindu wedding, another party the night after that then the final ceremony, a Persian wedding

honouring the hertiage of both Nadi’s parents.

Nadi’s Parents house was a buzz for the entire week. With around 20 guests staying including a large contingent of Havva’ family from Iran and elsewhere many who hadn’t

seen each other for nearly a decade.

It was electric, non stop dancing and singing, a house truly full of love and joy, I felt so honoured to be a part of it and to able to contribute by documenting a major chapter of their families story.

Coming soon The Hindu wedding.
